John P. Smith graduated from Siena College with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology and then received a MSW from the State University at Albany School of Social Welfare. He is a licensed Master Social Worker in New York State with 45 years of experience.

Mr. Smith retired from New York State in 1995 after 31 years of service with several State Agencies. He then worked in heavy construction for ten years as an expeditor and is still employed part-time.

Mr. Smith was a 25 year member of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul and is a former Board member of the former Child Advocacy Center of Albany County.
